Cassandra Coy Yazzie
Cassandra Coy Yazzie, 35, died on July 14, 2024, while held in the detox unit at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. According to a Bernalillo County news release, staff reached her after a wellness check found her in distress, and emergency responders and UNM Hospital staff could not revive her. The Sheriff's Office and the state Office of the Medical Examiner are investigating the death, and the county has not yet stated a cause or manner of death.
