Casey Norred
Casey Norred, 36, was a dancer, server and artist who loved David Bowie, 80s pop culture, animals and nature, and friends remembered her for wanting everybody to get along and have fun. She had lived with bipolar type schizoaffective disorder and depression for much of her adult life. She was held in the Leon County jail for about three months in 2017 while a judge weighed her competence to proceed with her case, and she was found dead in her cell that July. Her family says the coroner's office told them she died by hanging, and her attorney, Dan Hendrickson, says she took her own life. The family questions the supervision and medication she received after they warned jail staff of a suicide threat.
