Carroll Joe Parr
Carroll Joe Parr, 35, a Black man, told the Associated Press that he had fathered five children and was resigned to his fate. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice recorded that the State of Texas executed him by lethal injection at the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville on May 7, 2013, and The Guardian reported he was pronounced dead at 6:32 p.m. His attorneys filed no last-minute appeals, but he filed his own petition with the US Supreme Court arguing that his trial counsel was deficient, and a Waco judge had denied an earlier appeal that day.
Cause of death, as reported: Executed by the state. Parr's own petition to the US Supreme Court argued that his trial counsel was deficient.
Reported by: Texas Department of Criminal Justice (the agency that held him); news reporting on the execution.
