Carrington Frye
His mother describes Carrington Frye as a beloved son, brother and friend, and says he was close to coming home and had planned a fresh start with her help. He died in March 2020 at Macon State Prison in Georgia, where he was held, after being stabbed, and the Georgia Department of Corrections records his death as a homicide. His mother says another person held there attacked him and that he lay bleeding for 30 to 40 minutes while waiting for help. She says a single guard was overseeing about 188 people in the dormitory, that the camera covering the area was obscured, and that staff were slow to respond. She also says the prison did not notify her, and that she learned of his death from another person held there.
Cause of death, as reported: Killed by another person in custody (neglect alleged). His mother says one guard was monitoring about 188 people in the dormitory, the camera view was obscured, and he lay bleeding for 30 to 40 minutes before staff responded.
Reported by: Georgia Department of Corrections (the agency that held him); his mother, Jennifer Bradley (family or their lawyers); Southern Center for Human Rights (advocates).
