Carlton James Mathis
Carlton James Mathis was 30 years old. At about 10 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019, an officer found him unresponsive in his cell at the Houston County Jail, where he was awaiting trial. He was pronounced dead at the jail. The State Bureau of Investigation sent his body for an autopsy, and the cause of his death was not determined at the time.
