Carlos Ridley, 69, was held at Pickaway Correctional Institution in Orient, Ohio. His daughter, Kenosha Hines, remembers him as someone who entertained her sons with stories, jokes and martial arts lessons. His health declined suddenly in April 2020, and he was taken to a hospital on May 5, where he died that night while his daughter watched by video chat. The state corrections department said his medical needs were treated promptly.
