Carlos McGrew, 42, died on July 19, 2022, at Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, where he was held in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. Department of Corrections spokesman Ken Pastorick said he died after a fight with another person early that Tuesday morning and that authorities were investigating. WBRZ reported that correctional officers making rounds found the men fighting at Camp C, and the department says one man allegedly killed the other. The department's yearly death data lists the death as a homicide based on the autopsy report, and the motive for the fight was not immediately disclosed.
