Carlos Bland
Carlos Bland, 39, died in January 2023 while held at the Chesapeake jail in Virginia. Court documents say he took drugs that another person had smuggled into the jail, and that the drugs were laced with fentanyl. His family has complained that they were not kept informed about a later plea agreement in the case, a claim the Commonwealth's Attorney disputes. His father, Wayne Jones, spoke publicly about the case and said he was 'OK with it as long as justice is served.'
