Carl G. Freiburg
Carl G. Freiburg, 40, was found in distress in his cell at the Haywood County Detention Center in North Carolina on the night of October 10, 2025, and was pronounced dead at a hospital later that night. A North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services death report lists the death as natural. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not released its findings on the cause of death. The Haywood County Sheriff's Office asked the State Bureau of Investigation to conduct an independent investigation, which is ongoing, and said its thoughts and prayers were with the Freiburg family, who asked that no further information be released at this time.
