Caphaw

In April 1894, according to the Bolivar Bulletin, a mob broke into the jail at Smithsville, took Caphaw from it and lynched him, along with a man named Dunn. The paper reports that a third man held there was not harmed.

Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Bolivar Bulletin reports that a mob took Caphaw from the Smithsville jail and lynched him.
