Canody
Canody, a young man about twenty-two years old, was held in the jail at Shelby, South Carolina. Shortly after midnight on 2 December 1888, a crowd of masked men took him from the jail and lynched him. The jail was the place where he had been held when the mob came for him.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. A crowd of masked men took Canody from the Shelby jail shortly after midnight and lynched him.
