Candice Wheat

30 years old · died May 7, 2016 · Michael L. Becher Adult Correctional Complex, Clark County, Indiana

Candice Wheat, 30, was a mother of three, and her father said the family wants answers they can give her children. She was held at the Clark County Jail in Indiana, where she was found unresponsive in a holding cell in May 2016 and taken to a hospital, where life support was later stopped. Her sister said Wheat had struggled with depression since their brother died in a motorcycle crash the previous May. Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel said surveillance video appears to show she died by suicide, and said he has seen no evidence that anything should have been done differently. Toxicology results were still pending, and the Indiana State Police are investigating at the family's request.
