Cambrea Bishop
Cambrea Bishop, 26, was a mother to a young son named Kade, and her family's attorney described her as strong, funny, and working toward being the mother, daughter, sister, friend and coworker they knew she could be. Family and friends remember her as someone who 'loved big' and was a light even when struggling, and more than 100 people gathered at a park to remember her. She was found dead in her cell at the Spokane County Jail on July 17, 2018, after a phone call to her mother, and the sheriff's office said detectives are investigating. Her cellmate said she had been feeling better from withdrawal that morning, and family and cellmates say they do not believe she overdosed and that she received no medication for withdrawal symptoms. The medical examiner was awaiting toxicology results, and the cause of death remains under investigation.
Cause of death, as reported: Cause not yet determined (disputed; neglect alleged). The sheriff's office and medical examiner had not determined the cause, with toxicology pending; her family and cellmates say she received no medication for withdrawal, and inmates told the Inlander she had been going through withdrawals in the jail.
Reported by: Spokane County Sheriff's Office (the agency that held her); medical examiner's office (medical examiner or coroner); Inlander reporting (reporters); her family; her cellmate.
