Caitlyn Lewis, 30, died on October 5, 2016, while she was held at the Tulsa Jail in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to a Tulsa County Sheriff's Office inspection report, jailers found her hanging from a sprinkler pipe in her cell as they brought her medication, and a jail doctor pronounced her dead shortly after. One account describes her death as suicide. Jail officials had not released the reasons for her earlier stay in the medical unit or what items she was allowed to keep in her cell.
