Byron Looper
Byron Looper, 48, was held at the Morgan County Correctional Complex in Tennessee, where he was found unresponsive in his cell on a Wednesday morning in June 2013 and pronounced dead at about 11:10 a.m. A preliminary autopsy reported by the Chattanooga Times Free Press pointed to a heart event, but the cause and manner of death remain pending, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating at the request of the District Attorney. Family in Georgia are mourning him, and his former attorney knew him as Byron "Low Tax" Looper.
