Byron Bradshaw died while held at the Rowan County Detention Center in North Carolina in May 2017; a state list of jail deaths gives the date as May 1, 2017. Disability Rights North Carolina reports that state investigators found officers missed safety supervision rounds, that he was not placed on the level of supervision he required, and that he did not receive proper medical care. The same report says the housing area was overcrowded on the day he died.
