Brown
Brown was hanged in St. Louis in late July 1841, one of four people taken from the city jail under guard to a gallows outside town. The Rhode Islander reported that an estimated ten to fifteen thousand people attended. The Illinois Free Trader's account said he showed signs of life for six or eight minutes after the drop.
