26 years old · died July 24, 2018 · Pawnee County Jail, Pawnee County, Oklahoma

Brittany Weide, 26, was a mother of two. Her aunt, Tammy Tubbs, said she was battling addiction but had plans to get help the week after her death. Brittany died on July 24, 2018, inside the Pawnee County Jail, where she had been placed in a detox cell after an arrest downtown. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation ruled her death a suicide, and Pawnee County Sheriff Mike Waters said she had concealed a .40 caliber handgun, which was found in her lap, and that staff did not hear a shot because of a commotion in the jail. Her family says they cannot understand how she got a gun into the jail and believes staff failed in their duties.
