Brittany Weide DeVerges
Brittany Weide DeVerges, 26, died on July 24, 2018, at the Pawnee County Jail in Oklahoma, where she had been placed in a detox cell. Officers found her unresponsive in the cell with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest and a handgun on her stomach. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said the evidence indicates she brought the weapon into the jail on her person and that she killed herself, though it said a medical examiner's opinion would be needed to confirm the manner of death. How the gun got into the jail is not yet known, and the OSBI's investigation is ongoing, with reports going to the Pawnee County District Attorney's office.
