Brianna Romero
Brianna Romero, 20, was a mother, sister, daughter and friend, according to family and friends, who started a GoFundMe to pay for her funeral. She was held at the Santa Fe County Jail in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in late September 2021, and jail staff found her unconscious in her cell on September 30 and again on October 1. Hospital doctors found an opioid overdose, and she died at Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center on October 10, 2021. Official records list the cause of death as a drug overdose, and the Santa Fe Police Department and the Sheriff's Office are investigating how drugs got into the jail.
