Died in jail or a lockup
Brian William Whitney
Brian William Whitney, 44, died at the Towns County Jail in Hiawassee, Georgia, on August 2, 2025. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, jail staff found him unresponsive in his cell in the early morning and he was pronounced dead at the jail after EMS arrived. The GBI is investigating at the request of the Towns County Sheriff's Office, and an autopsy will be performed at the GBI Crime Lab. The cause and manner of his death have not yet been determined.
