Brian Booth, 30, was held at the Montgomery County Jail and was being treated at a hospital in Dayton when he took a gun from a contract security guard and wounded the guard. The Columbus Dispatch reports that he then ran through the hospital and died by suicide in the hospital parking lot on June 1, 2022. State inspectors later reviewed how the jail handled his case. County officials said they would change some procedures for people going through detoxification.
