Brett Michael Birdwell
Brett Michael Birdwell died on September 30, 2009, while held at the Gregg County South Jail Facility in Gregg County, Texas. According to the Gregg County Sheriff's Office, jailers checking the housing units found him unresponsive in a separation cell around 5:25 a.m., and medical staff found no signs of life. The sheriff's office said the death is being investigated as a suicide, and a Texas Ranger and sheriff's investigators are looking into it. An autopsy was ordered in Dallas, with cause and manner to be determined later, and the state's custodial death report also lists his death at the Gregg County Jail.
