Brent Gibney
Brent Gibney died in October 2017 after he was found unconscious in his cell at the Franklin County jail in Columbus, where he was held awaiting trial. He was taken to Grant Medical Center and died a few days later. His father, Brett Gibney, says the family was not notified by the jail and has received no answers about his death, and he led a protest outside the jail demanding answers and round-the-clock paramedics. The Sheriff's Office disputes the claim that people held there lack adequate medical care and says it is still investigating. The coroner has not determined a cause of death and is awaiting toxicology results.

The coroner has not determined a cause and is awaiting toxicology results, and the sheriff's office says it is still investigating; his father says the jail did not notify the family and has given no answers, and disputes the jail's account of his care.
Reported by: Franklin County Sheriff's Office (the agency that held him); Franklin County coroner (medical examiner or coroner); Brett Gibney (father) (family or their lawyers).
