Braylin Burnett
Braylin Burnett, 22, died in July 2025 while held at the Turney Center Industrial Complex, a Tennessee Department of Correction prison, after being admitted to a hospital in Nashville. He was diagnosed with leukemia at age three, and his grandmother Deborah Burnett and father Dwayne Burnett describe him as a loved member of the family who should have been able to have his family near him at the end. His family says he died of heart failure and had long-term heart damage from his childhood cancer treatment, and that he had not had a required annual ultrasound in years. The family is seeking answers. The Department of Correction said it cannot comment on an individual's medical care.
