Brandon Patton
Brandon Patton, 29, died while held at the Southern Nevada Detention Center, a federal facility in Pahrump run by CoreCivic. The Nevada federal public defender's office said he died of COVID-19, and the U.S. Marshals Service later confirmed his death. His public defenders had asked for his release because of the coronavirus, arguing that his serious pre-existing health conditions made death a likely outcome if he contracted the virus. The office said his death was avoidable and criticized conditions inside the facility.
