Brandon Mincey
Brandon Mincey, a 37-year-old man from Statesboro, died on October 11, 2024, while held at Phillips State Prison in Gwinnett County, Georgia. The Georgia Department of Corrections confirmed the death and said his body was sent for examination to determine the official cause, and that the death is under investigation. Social media posts shared by an activist page allege he was stabbed by other people held at the prison and was returned to his cell, but the department says that account of his housing placement is inaccurate. Funeral arrangements were being handled by Matthew H. Lovett & Son's Funeral Home.
