Brandon J. Schatz
Brandon J. Schatz, 29, died at Lancaster County Prison on July 12, 2017, days after police took him to a hospital following a seizure and he was then transferred to the prison. His mother said he had struggled with substance use and had told her he wanted to live without it, and that she had met up with him as he fell into depression while his girlfriend was away. The Lancaster County Coroner said an autopsy has been completed but the manner of death has not been determined and toxicology results are pending. Lancaster city police are investigating, and his family says they cannot understand how he came to die in custody.
