Brandon Houston
Brandon Houston, 38, died on October 4, 2026, while on an outside work assignment for the City of Havelock, North Carolina, while in the custody of the state prison system. North Carolina Department of Adult Correction officials said he died of an apparent overdose. Several people held at the same assignment became impaired, and three others were hospitalized and have since recovered. The department has ended work assignments at that location, and the Havelock Police Department is investigating with help from the State Bureau of Investigation.
