Brandon Ellingson
Brandon Ellingson, 20, drowned in 2014 on Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. He was handcuffed and being taken back to shore by a state trooper when he fell overboard. The trooper jumped in after him, but Ellingson sank and drowned. Testimony later said that his life jacket came off after the trooper had put it on incorrectly.
Cause of death, as reported: Died in an accident (neglect alleged). Court testimony showed the trooper put Ellingson's life jacket on incorrectly, and it came off after he fell overboard while handcuffed.
