Bobby, 57, was held at Halawa prison in Hawaii. His sister, Charla Manuel, said he had been looking forward to coming home after more than two decades, and that his daughter was building him a tiny home on the family property. He was hospitalized at Pali Momi Medical Center for about three weeks and died of COVID-19 in January 2021, according to family members. Manuel says the state did not do enough to protect prisoners from infection.
