Died in jail or a lockup
Bob Roderick
Bob Roderick was held in the jail at Rawlins, in what was then Wyoming Territory, in March 1882. According to news reports, a party of masked men took him from the jail at about 4 a.m. and carried him to the stock yards about a mile east of town, where he was hanged along with another man, James Lacy. Newspapers printed in the days afterward give different dates for the killing, March 18, 19 and 20. One report prints his name garbled, so the spelling may be a misprint.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched
Reported by: Eureka Daily Sentinel (reporters).
