Bishop

Bishop died at the convict brick yards near Little Rock in August 1898 while held at the facility. Guard J. H. Fulgum shot him, and Fulgum is reported to have said Bishop was advancing on him with an axe. A separate newspaper report describes a dispute over the shooting.

Cause of death, as reported: Killed by staff. Guard J. H. Fulgum says he shot Bishop after Bishop advanced on him with an ax, and no other account of the shooting is reported.
