Billy Glaze

72 years old · died December 22, 2015 · Delaware

Billy Glaze, 72, died of stage 4 lung cancer at a prison in Delaware on December 22, 2015, about a week after he was diagnosed. He had been in custody for more than 25 years. His nephew Darrell French said Glaze's sister had died of lung cancer that September. His attorney Ed Magarian said Glaze's dying wish was that his name be cleared, and the Minnesota Innocence Project had been seeking a new trial based on DNA testing they said did not link him to the case, while Hennepin County prosecutors said they remained confident in the original result.

Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness. Records list stage 4 lung cancer as the cause of death, about a week after his diagnosis; no source in the record describes care failures.
