Billie Davis, 35, died in 2022 while held at LaSalle Correctional Center in Olla, Louisiana, a facility to which Harris County sent people held in Texas. According to a coroner's report, Davis died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in a fight in custody, and the coroner ruled the death a homicide. Advocates struggled for months to learn what happened. A 2026 report said the death did not appear in Texas or Louisiana records, and what further investigation followed in Louisiana is unclear.
