Bernard Patt
Bernard Louis Patt, 38, was taken into custody by Amarillo police on August 29, 2018. Authorities said he had medical problems that began before his arrest, and he died on September 6, 2018, at Northwest Texas Hospital while being treated for them. The Texas Attorney General's custodial death report instead lists his death on August 29 at the Potter County Jail, so the two accounts give different dates and places of death. The on-call Potter County Justice of the Peace ordered an autopsy, and the cause of death had not been determined when the reporting was published. The Texas Rangers are investigating the death.
