Bernard Ebbers
Bernard Ebbers, a telecommunications executive who led WorldCom and earlier coached basketball in Mississippi, died on February 2, 2020, at age 78. Described as one of the most colorful and successful executives of the telecommunications boom, he preferred cowboy boots and jeans to suits and ties. A federal judge had released him from federal prison the previous December because his health had deteriorated.
