Bennie Ray Brown Jr., 45, of Pelzer, died on January 12, 2018, at Perry Correctional Institution, a state prison in South Carolina. Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans said Brown went into cardiac arrest and that medical workers tried to revive him but were unsuccessful. The cause and manner of his death have not been determined in the account from the coroner.
