Bennie Ray Brown Jr.

Bennie Ray Brown Jr., a Black man, was 45 when he died in January 2018 at Perry Correctional Institution, a state prison in South Carolina. He was from Pelzer, in Greenville County. Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans said he died of cardiac arrest. Sources differ on the day of his death, giving January 12 and January 13.

Cause of death, as reported: Died of illness. The Greenville County coroner said Brown went into cardiac arrest and medical workers could not revive him.
