Benjamin F. Mastel
Benjamin F. Mastel, 35, of Ottawa, Kansas, had been held at the Franklin County Adult Detention Center since April 19, 2016. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said he was found unresponsive in his cell late on a Friday night, June 17, and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The cause and manner of death have not been determined, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating as state law requires.
