Died in jail or a lockup
Ben Woods
Ben Woods was held in a city jail in October 1911 when a mob came for him. According to the Tonopah Daily Bonanza, the mob took him from the jail along with A. Richardson. The paper reported that both men were lynched, and said that those present believed Woods's fate was the same as Richardson's.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched. The Tonopah Daily Bonanza reports that a mob took Woods and Richardson from the city jail and lynched both men, though it does not report finding Woods's body.
