Barry Wardell Gardner
Barry Wardell Gardner, 33, of Montgomery, was held at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer, Alabama, when he was stabbed in an open dormitory on February 22, 2022. He was taken to the infirmary, where he was pronounced dead. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office is investigating his death as a homicide, and the Alabama Department of Corrections says it is still investigating. One report gives the date of death as February 23.
