Barry Michael Engle
Barry Michael Engle, 50, of Gastonia, became unresponsive while awaiting processing at the Cleveland County Law Enforcement Center in North Carolina and died on February 15, 2021. The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office said deputies gave him two doses of Narcan, and that EMS tried to resuscitate him for about 30 minutes. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, and the sheriff's office said it will conduct an internal investigation. No cause of death has been announced.
