Bailey
Bailey was one of two brothers, both named Bailey, who were held in a jail in November 1883. According to a press dispatch, about fifty masked and armed men broke into the jail late one night while the sheriff was away, battered in the door and overpowered the guards after a hard struggle. The mob took Bailey and his brother out and hanged them both from a tree in a graveyard about a mile from town. The News of Galveston reported the account by telegraph, and the other reports of the killings differ on the date and town.
