Ayanna Lashawn Smith, 32, died on June 28, 2024, while held at the Travis County Jail in Texas. According to the Travis County Sheriff's Office, she was found unresponsive in her cell that Friday morning, and efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. The sheriff's office, the Texas Rangers and the medical examiner's office are investigating, and the cause and manner of her death have not been determined. The final autopsy report is pending.
