Atwell Conner, Jr., 71, died of colon cancer on the morning of Sunday, October 2, 2016, while in hospice care at the Anamosa State Penitentiary in Iowa. Iowa Department of Corrections spokesman Fred Scaletta said the death was from natural causes.
