Ashley Morin
Ashley Morin, 32, had given birth shortly before she died in August 2024 while held at York Correctional Institution in East Lyme, Connecticut, where she had been for only a few days. According to an Inspector General's report, as reported by CT Mirror, she died of an overdose from fentanyl mixed with other strong opioids, and the report says cellmates offered her fentanyl. Officers found material they believed to be drugs, but a lab test found it was not drugs. A former Inspector General has said she may have brought drugs into the facility herself.
