Arvel Crawford
Arvel Crawford was 24 and the father of a 9-year-old son, who is now cared for by Crawford's mother. He died in March 2015 at the US Penitentiary Hazelton in West Virginia, where he was held; his mother's lawyers say another prisoner slashed his throat with a homemade knife. His mother said, "He was a human being... I love him. That's my son." Nearly five years later she still did not know who killed him or why, and her lawsuit against the Bureau of Prisons had been dismissed.
