Artemio Martinez Resendiz
Artemio Martinez Resendiz, 42, was held at the Monterey County jail, where he was receiving diabetes treatment and was seen for flu-like symptoms. Deputies found him unresponsive in his cell on Nov. 10, 2013, and he died at Natividad Medical Center on Nov. 12, 2013, without regaining consciousness. His parents' federal lawsuit says jail and medical staff should have recognized his acute medical needs and intervened.
