Archie Jameson
Archie Jameson was held in the Springfield jail in Springfield, Kentucky, in September 1880. A news dispatch from Springfield reported that a mob of about one hundred men took him from the jail and hanged him from a dogwood tree about seven miles from the town. Newspaper accounts of the killing give the date of his death as September 14 or 15, 1880.
Cause of death, as reported: Taken from custody and lynched (disputed). A news dispatch from Springfield says a mob took Archie Jameson from the Springfield jail and hanged him from a dogwood tree about seven miles away, while a later Nashville dispatch reports two men hanged about seven miles from Springfield without explicitly linking Jameson to that hanging, and the records give conflicting dates of September 14 and 15, 1880.
